BUY AMERICAN MADE!

As President-elect Barack Obama prepares his economic stimulus package,

his advisers are looking into inserting a "Buy American" plank.

An Obama spokesperson told Bloomberg that "We are reviewing the buy American

proposal and we are committed to a plan that will save or create 3 million jobs,

including jobs in manufacturing."

Say NO to foreign products, buy quality! ;)

Jimmy, I do wish I could support your statement. Problem is, When is Big Business & Wall Street going to start taking care of us the people (the real America)? Most don't have any desire to do what is best for America. Unfortunately I was in Big Business when the Orders came down from the Top changing the USA business model from Old School to the Cr*p Business Model of today. Decided I could not save the World a few years back so I make sure my family is taken care. What do we make besides Weapons & Hamburgers. I have enough of both.

New Zealand has in place a "Buy NZ Made" programme for many years now with incentives and a logo sticker on NZ made goods. It's pretty much died a natural death now but is still out there. There were many obstacles to overcome and in the end it was just to hard to compete with imported goods. Some issues that got in the way were the fact that the NZ Government (who set up the programme) all ready had in place trade agreements with other countries that can not be broken. Now we have an agreement with China it's a case of getting in behind this closer economic agreement between us and them. The pay off for NZ is we have secured meat and dairy products amongst others to boost our exports to China. The farmers income from this helps build the countries growth, so we all get something out of it. If you don't import products from other counties they won't import from you, however if the USA did find a nation that would except your one way traffic, the increase freight costs with shipping back empty contains would offset its profits. The world is getting smaller and smaller though trade agreements and it's a snow ball that can't be stopped, right or wrong.

Jimmy your going to hate me but it looks like NZ beef will solely be used by MacDonald's and NZ is on the verge of signing a Closer Economic agreement with your country.

The other thing is, your happy or not with your RZR with China made parts, either way if it was 100% American made the retail price on a new one would shoot up, making new buyers look at alternatives anyway.

Cheers Mike.

Hey Mike, I was wondering where you went, you have been keeping a low profile lately.

I was only quoting a statement from Obama about the buy American products.

Its hard to find anything that is 100 % made here anymore. The RZR and even

the Rhino are built in this country but I am sure the RZR probably has something

China on it.

If you want electronic products you have no choice because I don't think there

are any products made here anymore like TV's, cameras, etc.

At one time everything said made in the USA, then Japan, then Taiwan, then Korea, now China.

We saw junk come out of all these countries, even the US. When we start making a quality

product the price gets to high and another country steps in with a cheaper priced but less quality.

What country will be next? Iraq, Iran, Russia, Africa?

I have two freinds sitting here next to me from Utah talking about this so I am listening with one ear and

typing away but you get the idea. Later

We all want "German" engineering at "China" prices and we want it "made in America". It's kind of like I saw somewhere; Economical, Dependable, Fast, you can only have two.

One product that has really gone down hill is shoes. Tens years or more ago I'd buy branded American shoes that would last up to three years no worries, now those same shoes made in Asia are only good for 1 year. The cheap Chinese imported shoes are even worse, maybe 3 to 6 months. Come to mention it, what about socks? Man those things fall apart on yar after six months. Even with my smelly feet that's not good. I have still got NZ made tramping socks in my draw that are wearable after 10 years. So there does have to be some quality control somewhere along the line otherwise more products like these will slip into the disposable category too. NZ has to trade with other countries because of out small size whereas America could manufacture, grow or mine most products themselves, however competition from developing countries will always undercut you. The NZ Rag trade (clothes) used to be huge in the 80s, now you can't even buy a NZ made Tee-Shirt without paying though your nose.

Cheers Mike.

I would be happy with two of these options, German engineering at China prices!

But German quality does not come cheap.

Two of my riding buddies have VW dune buggies that are 30 years old and those things just keep on going.

But the VW is old technology these days.

You're right Jimmy those VW's are just like the Energizer Bunny, they keep going and going.....

      Hi All,
I picked up an old beat up 2010 American Sportworks Bull Dog 300 BD300.  I would like to restore her...  Does anyone know a good source for parts other than the OEM?  I find $130 for brake pads is kind of unreasonable... I also need a steering rack and other things... I took apart the steering rack and it needs a new bearing and oil seal... Of course the OEM only sells the complete rack for over $200..  I found the correct bearing for $6.00. I am having trouble finding the correct oil seal..
Anyone that has info on one of these machines, please chime in...  I am used to the ease of finding info on Polaris, Honda, Can Am, Kawasaki, etc.....,  Info and parts on these seems to be scarce..  Some of the parts on it look like Golf Cart parts as well as some look like Go Kart parts..

I purchased a new 2023 Landmaster UTV L4 in October of 2023.  UTV didn't seem to have as much power of the demo L4 that I drove but figured once it broke in it would be better.  After about a week the unit started bogging down backfiring and stopping.  Gas fumes really bad, wait a few minutes and it would start up again.  Brought it back to the dealer and after keeping it for a few weeks said he couldn't find anything wrong with it.  Got it back home and it started acting up again, brought it back to dealer a week later and he said he found couple things that might cause it to do run bad and he was able to replicate the issue but didn't really know what was wrong.  Got it back home again after being at dealer for several weeks and the unit started running bad again right away.  Brought it back to dealer and he went back and forth with Kohler about possible fixes but just checked somethings and try to swap a few parts but still runs bad.  I called Landmaster HQ to speak with someone about a refund and was told that was handled at the dealer level.  Dealer called Landmaster and they told him they didn't do refunds or exchanges especially with units that had problems.  The dealer is now trying to get a new engine to but I have not heard anything as of yet.  I did file complaint with Better Business Bureau and they accepted my claim and reached out to Landmaster.  The National Service Manager called me and said the he had been contacted by the BBB about the complaint and he would look into it.  I told him that I would just like to have my down payment of $2,000.00 returned and never mind the over $1,000.00 I have paid in notes for a UTV that I cannot even ride on without hoping it gets me around the neighborhood.  I have found out that the 2024 Landmaster UTVs will have Vanguard engines due to issues with the Kohler engines.  Very disappointed in what is "Proudly Made in the USA" and the way Landmaster has treated this disabled veteran!

QUESTION: How to wire the C/B into this current dual battery set up.

EXISTING SITUATION: MAIN Battery is OEM and feeds OEM circuits. Added an AUX Battery in the OEM dual battery location. Connected the AUX - terminal to the MAIN - terminal. Connected the 100A Accessory Fuse Block power cable to the AUX + terminal. Installed a smart isolator between AUX and MAIN batteries where a cable from AUX + goes to the isolator and a cable from isolator to MAIN battery + terminal. Installed separate QD battery tender cables to both AUX and MAIN batteries + and -. The dual battery system appears to work as intended. For this Phase 1 improvement, to avoid having to constantly pull the leads on the AUX + battery post off and put on, for testing or maintenance of Accessory circuits, I wanted a more convenient and safer way to open the circuit from the AUX battery + terminal the Accessory Fuse Block. I called an off road dealership and was told to install a much larger capacity circuit breaker than the 100A rated Fuse Block and was recommended to get a 250A C/B like the one in the pic, which I did. I was told the reason for the C/B high amp rating was two-fold (a) to trip in the event of a battery short circuit and (b) to be able to conveniently open the C/B to kill power to the Accessory Fuse Block without removing leads from the AUX + terminal. The 250A C/B has two posts labelled "BAT LOAD" and "BAT LINE". There are currently three connections to the AUX + post: (1) Accessory Fuse Block power cable, (2) cable to Isolator AUX in terminal, (3) cable from AUX battery charger.

American SportWorks LM 650 won’t start at times. Starter won’t engage the solenoid just “clicks” much like a weak battery would cause. Battery was replaced and problem went away and then came back. Replaced positive battery terminal. Problem resolved then returned. Replaced negative battery terminal. Problem gone then returned. Replaced the positive and negative battery cable ends. Problem resolved and now returned. The repair lasts for maybe 12 starts, then the solenoid just “clicks” again as it will with a weak battery. So I replaced the ignition switch. Problem solved for a week. With each “fix” the problem is resolved but only temporarily. Does anyone have any suggestions ? To replace the starter is expensive especially if it’s not the problem.
