Hello All,

I am trying to find a Scanner that is works for a 2016 MSU500. I found the Tiny Scan TS301 that looks like a decent Scanner but so far have not been able to get confirmation that this works on and older model. It has been stated that it works on the 2019 and newer but not sure about older models. It appears that the ECM/ECU/EFI modules are likely interchangeable between a 2016 and the newer 2019 and on but not sure of the Scanner. I am waiting for feedback from Hisun on this issue right now.

If this unit is not usable for my model year has anyone found and a Diagnostic Scanner for the older machines, one that works and is Affordable?

Thanks for reading my post and any information that you may have to share,

Robert

I believe that in both cases, you're dealing with a Delphi type scanner. The pin configuration, where the scanner connects, would be the only limitation. If they're the same connection, then it should work.

My knowledge is just scanners in general. I don't own this particular machine, nor the scanner. But I can't see how it could be different.

Unfortunately I have no idea where the plug is to check. Find the plug, and check the pin configuration. Compare against the two models.

If you're waiting on the factory for any meaningful guidance. You might be in for a long wait, ending up with very little useful information. Although the factory has helped a couple of folks. In general they're known for being less than helpful.

As you've already seen, there's very little definitive information on this topic. And there's lots of people here who could really use this information.

Please share any information that you find, as this is one of the most sought after topic on this forum.

Good luck in your search!

Thank you for responding and I think I am finding some answers to my question. I know that the TS301 is designed to Interface with the Delphi ECU and it's suppose to come with the Adapter for the Harness Cable connection, plus two other adapters for other Engines/Makes. I called Hisun Customer service and after a few minutes of being on hold the young lady there came back with the answer that I hope is right. She said that this unit is compatible with the 2015-Current year, the TS301 manufacturer updates the software that you can download from their site to keep it current. I stuck my neck out and ordered a TS301 and should have it by the middle of next week. Now my machine is one sick puppy but I will try this unit on my machine and see how that goes but if I have trouble I'll try it on my son 2016 MSU500 that's in good shape.

I will report back whatever I learn and hopefully it will be Good news. Then the biggest drawback to some might be the $350.00 price tag, though for Test/Diagnostic equipment that didn't seem, Gulp, Overly pricey to me.

Again thank you for your feedback and I'll post, in the near future,

Robert

It does seem a hundred or so overpriced. And it's likely the main reason others here haven't tried it. Or at least, none that I'm aware of. It's an expensive gamble, with little information to make an informed guess on the success probability.

If they have, they didn't post it here. And that's a shame. But by no means uncommon for any internet forum.

If you have any experience with scanners, then you know their significant shortcomings.

A code reader like were discussing, typically only puts you on the scent of the problem. And usually requires more detective work to narrow it down. This industry, as well as the automotive industry could certainly improve that.

At any rate, I fully expect that it'll work just fine for your purpose. Keep us posted, and share your success story with us. We love pictures too!

Best of luck in your project!

the regen braking on my e1 has stopped working unless (for eg) I am going down a hill in low and it's slowing things down to stick to the 10kph limit. when I drive and take my foot off the accelerator it's not initiating the regen to slow things down and instead just coasts at whatever speed it is at, or speeds up as the regen is not limiting it. the brake lights work, so it's probably not a fault with the sensor on the brake pedal

hoping someone else might be able to provide some suggestions on things to check, as the mob that I bought it off seem to have gone silent on me

The conversion took about 350lbs. off the vehicle.  It never rode great, but now I feel every  crack in the road.  I have backed off spring compression nut to the point just under where they would move around if suspension was at full extension, but it is still very stiff.  I would like to put some softer coilover springs on it, but I have no idea what the spring rate is with the original springs so I would just be guessing on what to order.  Does anyone have the data for the original spring compression rate?  I am willing to give up a little ground clearance for a softer ride. Right now when sitting still the rear suspension is at or near full extension and the rear tires have several degrees of camber which will cause uneven wear if allowed to continue in this state.

This post will explain how to hook up your PC to the ECU of a Hisun/Coleman/Etc UTV to be able to read error codes & engine parameters for troubleshooting purposes.
This is applicable to all small engines using the Delphi MT-05 ECU. This should cover all fuel injected Hisun models, as well as various other Chinese FI engines, as the Delphi MT-05 ECU seems to be the favored ECU solution.
Even though we get actual engine error codes to display on the dash, sometimes we have “pending codes” (not yet confirmed by the ECU) or other intermittent issues that are hard to diagnose, for example a poorly connected sensor that may give intermittent false readings, or a sensor that’s putting out bad date, but not bad enough for the ECU to realize.
The setup requires 2 cables, which are available for around $25 combined, a PC with a USB port, and some charityware software called “HUD ECU Hacker”. This gives the same functionality as the $300 dealer code scanner for a fraction of the price.
In searching I found info about HUD ECU Hacker, but I have yet to see info anywhere about how to hook it up to a Hisun, so I took the leap and bought some cables, and made it work. I will show a step by step of how to do so in post two.
I will be breaking this down into 2 posts:
Delphi ECU Info & Overview (This post) System setup & use Delphi ECU Info (Skip ahead to the next post if your eyes glaze over technical details)
The Delphi MT-05 ECU was developed to allow small engines to use fuel injection. A fuel injection system requires feedback from various sensors to operate efficiently. This feedback allows the adjustment of ignition timing, fuel injection volume, etc to efficiently and cleanly produce the most power possible from a given engine.
The MT-05 ECU has a number of sensors that are required for proper functioning including; Coolant temp, crankshaft position, intake temp, intake pressure, exhaust O2, throttle position, as well as some other optional sensors that are used on more complex vehicles.
From the sensors the ECU adjusts: Fuel injector timing/pulse, Idle air control valve, and ignition coil

The Delphi MT-05 puts out diagnostic data, however it is not ODB2 like a modern car, where is where it gets tricky reading it. There are three options, there is an old 16 bit piece of software Delphi has that is not able to run on a modern computer, there is the motorscanner tool for dealers ($300), or there is freeware HUD ECU Hacker with the proper cables.

Hi everybody. I just bought a 2012 Hisun with the 700cc engine. Was wondering where i could find a service manual for this thing?
Its going to need some parts that are missing, like the air intake hoses and other things. Also the dash display is out. the only light that works is neutral light. Not even sure on the model. from pics I've seen, it looks like an HS700. Kind of grey with the black stripes on the hood. Just hoping i can find parts for it.
Thank you for any advice you can give me. By the way, it does run and goes forward and reverse.

Does any have a part number for the fuel pump sock for a 2016 challenger 700 efi. Does not show on any parts diagram but the old pump has one on it.
