Hello everyone!

I saw there was a recent topic asking for purchasing advice for a UTV for a ranch. Like that poster I am a first time poster and I do not have a large knowledge of UTVs.

I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction for a UTV (or let me know what I should be looking at instead) to meet the following requirements.

I live in a small village populated almost exclusively by family members, family businesses and family property. All of the buildings are connected by private, flat, concrete pathways. I have two children and regularly find myself schlepping back and forth across the village carrying various bags, boxes and other items. Getting two kids ready to go on a bicycle or push a pram for a short journey is a hassle and something I could just jump on with them and zip around the village on would be much handier.

So I am looking for something that is preferably cheap, electric, doesn't need to be too powerful or capable of off-road or steep hill climbs, has a couple of seats, is relatively small and has a flatbed or trailer or something that I can throw items on to. It doesn't need to be anything that has to be street legal either as it won't be driven on public highways, just private land.

Anything out there that would fit the bill? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I had been looking at golf carts as well as I thought they might do the trick. I guess I am still coming to terms with how expensive they are though! You can pick up a second hand car for peanuts yet a second hand golf cart is still around seven thousand dollars...

Any time I get the chance to recommend a golf cart, I always do. It's the best way to get around on roads, or reasonably level trails.

On the plus side though, just remember that the $7 grand will buy a top quality, name brand, lightly used golf cart.

The same money spent on a UTV, wouldn't buy the same quality, or it would be an older model, with parts, or maintenance issues.

Besides, golf carts have lots of aftermarket support, and I think that you could probably find it cheaper, if you're patient. My vote is for a golf cart 100%.

Is there a code reader available for the Coleman UTV 400?  I tried using the HUD ECU Hacker software and cables/adapters but no luck OBD to delphi 6 pin and KKL VAG as well as ELM327.  Will not connect.  I was able to get it to connect randomly a couple of times, but haven't been able to since.  I was able to clear and read the codes briefly.  I'm aware of the Tiny Scan 301 but it doesn't seem to be readily available.  There's a few out there but they are expensive.

I want to ditch my Kubota RTV-XG850 and its moronic twitchy throttle design flaw, get rid of the problematic engine and the 40 mph purposely throttled speed.
So far, I'm looking at the Honda Pioneer 1000 and the Polaris Ranger 1000, both of which have 1000-1500 lb payload bed capacity.
What other makes and models should I be looking at?

      Thanks for the help!
