Seriously considering buying 2022 Axis 700 from Lowes… any regrets from current owners?

So far so good. 23hours on the engine and all is well. No issues so far. I burn ethanol free gas with 94+ octane. Used the winch for the first time yesterday to pull a huge pine that had pinched my chainsaw; winch performed flawlessly.

Just looked at the Lowes add for that, pretty much looks like an  MSU 500/700 that Hisun made for Massimo back then.  Take a good look at the badging on parts to see who it's actually made by, my guess is it's still Hisun.

I purchased one from Lowes. Axis 700.

it is made by HiSun in Texas and are rebadged with several names. Got  it in Feb  of 22’ and used mainly for Hunting property maintenance and  cruising around. Have had only one issue so far. Voltage regulator went out and local authorized dealer repaired it under warranty.
For what comes with it (winch, windshield, etc.) the price is easy on your wallet. Will it last, is yet to be seen.  5 k more and a Polaris or Honda  could be yours, but that’s half the price of another HiSun  unit.
Be Safe …

I picked up the Axis 750 quad cab a little under a year ago. Put about 40 hours on it.  Runs way better after break in adjustment and fluid changes, 20 hrs. Only issue was a $20 broken air/oil separator.  Helps to be handy with maintenance cause service centers are scarce around me.  If you purchase, inspect everything before you drive off. Others have had bad experiences in my area. I'm completely satisfied with mine. It will go anywhere.

I'm due for my break-in service with just over 50 miles on my Axis 500.  Which fluid changes did you perform (in addition to the engine oil and filter change)?  Local UTV shop is telling me that all of the fluid needs to be changed, from the final drive fluid to the differential fluid.  The owner's manual just talks about doing the oil change and filter change after the initial break-in period.

50 miles is not the break-in period.. My manual says burn 3 tanks of gas to break-in..

For the Axis 500 it is, it says so in the owner's manual.  After the first 50 hours, it's then every 500 hours between oil changes and I plan to use full synthetic.

My bad, it's 50 miles or 10 hours, whichever comes first.

So to Jones’s point the 10HR /or 50 MILE interval is what should happen. So says my 500/700 Axis Manual
FYI.  I had a charging problem. I did a voltage test with a Voltage Meter while running and it sat at 12.5. Not good.
Please make sure you register your unit on the HiSun site. I had to call because my Lowes did not do all that the registration  section on the HiSun site said they should have.
I took it to the vendor that is Authorized to work on the unit and they verified the battery was good .  After a weeks stay they called and said that the Voltage Regulator was bad and that it will be a few days.  I was at 16 hrs and as a good faith gester and convince  to me I asked if they would change the oil and filtered and lube the beast.   Figured warranty wouldn’t pay much and an oil change would put a few bucks toward the labor .
Service told me that the manufacturer had NOT responded to the warranty claim and that I would be able to only pay for the OC and Lube and if Warranty didn’t cover my repairs that they would call and be asking for additional payment.   (To the tune of(225.00). 😳
The synthetic blend 10-W40  and filter change and lube was 96.67.     Without a kiss or a Veteran’s Discount.
Overall still glad I got the unit in FEB of 22 and use it around the house and for Hunting property maint. and eviction of a harvest.

I did the final drive and diff fluid as well. Neither were difficult. Royal Purple 75w90.

Looks like both take less than 1/3 of a quart.  Did you just buy 1 qt jug for both the final drive and differential or did you end up having to buy 2 x 1qt jugs after draining both fluids?

I buy 2 of everything, just need one tho. I go by the old philosophy of 1 is none and 2 is 1.  Never know when the supply chain will crash or prices will spike. Good luck!

Glad I found this thread. I'm considering the Axis 700, too. I've been rebuilding this 2009 for over a year and there are so many new parts in it it's practically new. And practically all Yamaha parts. :) But I might just sell it and spring for a new Axis 700. BUT Lowe's seems to be always out of stock. Does anyone know if there's a long backorder wait time on these?

They are a decent machine after you swap out the junk parts for OEM Yamaha pieces . Problem is, I dont want to go thru that nightmare again.. My next will be Honda or Kawasaki. The guys I ride with never have issues. they are bulletproof

Hey all.  Just thought I'd weigh in with our pretty much horrible experience with a new Axis 700 purchased last May 2023 from Lowes in Winchester, VA.  Brought it home, put about 10 hours on it and it won't hold a charge.  LOOOOONG story, the mobile tech has been out 4 times, replaced the battery, voltage regulator twice.  I told him in February I thought (after doing a bit of research) that it was the stator, since if kept on the trickle charger it reads 100% charged, run it 15 minutes and it's down to 40%-that means the stator is not charging the battery while it's running.  Anyway, last time he came out the part that he was supposed to change out was shipped in too small a package and was bent and unusable.  I have about a 10 page email chain to 6 different folks at Hisun in TX begging for some resolution.  They ignore my calls, emails, voice mails, etc.  Needless to say, we are really frustrated with the vehicle, the company, the mechanic; pretty much everything to do with this worthless POS.    It is truly ridiculous to spend $10K on something that is now sitting in our garage torn apart waiting for the worthless mechanic once again.

UPDATE:  Now the tech is scheduled today for his, yes 6th visit.  This time, in addition to replacing the stator, it now has a cracked water pump that needs to be replaced.  This on a vehicle that still has 10 use hours on it.  (It has an additional 5 from running during repair visits).  The support from Lowes and Hisun has been nothing short of abysmal.

I really believe that the design of the Hisun 500/700 is very good but the people building them are very bad.  They apparently  know nothing (or just don't care) about quality control and customer support.  If a good company were to buy them out and fire everyone that ever had anything to do with building them and replace with good engineers, QC, customer support people, they could corner the market.  As it is now don't buy one unless you are fully ready to maintain it on your own because you will have problems.

The engine is a 95% clone of YAMAHA Rhino but built with lesser quality parts and assembly..I Have replaced broken defective parts with YAMAHA Parts on my 500 Hisun engine. It has become acceptable SXS now. Mine broke on its first day in its first mile. Neither Hisun or Massimo would back warranty. 6 trips to shop all paid out of pocket..I discourage anyone from buying anything made by Hisun.☠

When we first heard the noise, we immediately stopped driving it...at first we thought it might be a linkage issue, but after further inspection looks like the sound/jolting is coming from the rear diff. Took a video below...
Anyone know what is creating the diff to skip/jump like this? We drained the diff oil and didn't look terrible, no metal.
Other info that may be useful:
      1400 miles on it
      Recently tightened the E brake
P.s. never posted on this forum before, let me know if the video does not work

      Hi everyone
Recently purchased a 2020 T-Boss 410 in what appears to be good condition
First time with this machine – I also have a diesel Kawasaki Mule which so far seems a better machine
It didn’t start and idle well particularly from cold when I got it and sudden take off ( now solved with new clutch parts ) was all or nothing !
I have replaced the idle valve, throttle position sensor, had the injector professionally checked ( ok) and also the pressure sensor this is a fuel injection engine, also plug and lead etc!
It still doesn’t run well and when starting I have to hold revs for a while as it wont idle but stall, thereafter its better and I have rebooted the ecu which has improved it
When I go to start it clicks as if there is a hydraulic lock and wont return after two or three attempts it then does turn over and start bit I need to give it a bit of throttle to start – is this normal ?
Is there adjustment for the air idle valve ?
The engine seems rough and with vibration compared to other engines I have been used to but some say this is normal?
I haven’t changed the Lambda sensor yet, anyone know how much difference this might make ( I have a new Bosch universal to fit )
Any advice very much appreciated, thanks

Have a Coleman UTV 400 that cranks, runs, drives well until it gets warm and is put under load.  Light throttle or full throttle it doesn't bog, but it will cut out mid throttle if you move the pedal quicker than it seems to like for example when you're getting ready to go up a hill, but if you immediately floor it, it will do just fine and not cut out.  It's random if and when it's going to do it, but is consistent in that it happens only when hot/full operating temperature.  I've replaced the injector twice, same with the spark plug and tried different heat ranges (NGK 7,8 and 8 iridium), replaced the fuel pump, adjusted the valves, checked air filter which is like new, changed the oil, replaced the fuel filter.  No check engine light.  I don't have a code reader for this.  Initially I thought it might have a head or head gasket issue as when I got it, the oil was over full, very runny like water milky and it was smoking.  I've changed the oil since then twice to clear and clean everything out, and it seems to be good.  Coolant stays the same level and so does oil with no changes in consistency or need for adding more. Had I think 7-9 miles when I got it and now has about 77.  What should I try or consider next?

      Hi,
      New to the forum.
Came here looking for some experienced UTV users who can enlighten me about which brand should I pick for my very first UTV or SXS.
      I'm between 3 brands and 3 models:
      *Kawasaki MULE PRO-FXR   1000.
      *Yamaha wolverine rmax2.
      *Can am Commander XTP.
The use I'm willing to give it is mostly to go to the range with my wife, load steel targets and all our shooting gear, we shoot a lot, rifles, Shotguns and Handguns for practice, training and competition. (Range is about 10 miles from home)
But also I want something that I can take to the trails and have fun on dirt, mud, rocks, puddles or creeks.
Any objective information will be appreciated, specially which is more reliable and durable.
Thank you and happy 4th of July.

I have an Axis 500 4x4 UTV that I was given.  It looks like an almost new machine with 39 hrs on it however it was apparently under water from the hurricane . I have no spark at the plug. I have replaced the plug, the plug wire, & the stator so far. Can anyone advise me of what i need to check and or replace to get this thing running? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
                                    Thank You,
                                  D Maynard
