2017 Massimo 700 shift issue

I can't figure out what's wrong with the shifter in this utv. When running at 1300 rpm it takes brute force to shift in and out of gear. When I shit off the engine it shifts like butter. Is there something I'm missing here?. I thought maybe it was to high an idle but from what I gather 1300 to 1500 is where it should be. Thanks for any help

There’s a mechanical shift interlock that requires depressing brake pedal to shift gears. I’m currently fighting mine. Interlock would become stuck , requiring spray lubricant. Recently removed interlock but shifter  is super loose and I’m afraid a rough ride would cause it to slip out of gear. Reinstalled and lubricated the interlock cable, also changed shift cable, kind of a pain to adjust cable but done. Yet to make an extended ride to report results.

      If anyone is looking for the cheapest UTV, with dump bed, winch, roof and windshield, I just noticed that lowes has the axis 500/ hisun UTV on sale for 4500 (at least in my area) They are $4500. ($9000 original). I have one - they have some issues, but nothing catastrophic. My biggest complaint is that it is under powered. Also the winch failed. They are still selling an extended warranty - which I would take, just in case. My guess is lowes wants them gone.

      So I'm interested in a side by side of some sort.
      Not sure what make/model to even look at.
       
      I would plan on riding on trails with very rough rocky terrain and plenty of mud. Maybe sand once in a long while. I like LOTS of power and drive fast, but also like a trail that is a challenge to get through. I think 4x4 would be a must. I like the idea of a supercharged engine, but I have never owned one, and would be a little concerned about long term reliability or expensive difficult engine repairs. If anyone knows quads, my favorite was the 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS. For dirt bikes, I raced a 2008 KTM 450 SX-F. So that gives you an idea of what type of off road stuff I liked.
      I don't like "utility quads" or "trail bikes". And likewise, I dont want a turd UTV. I want something that looks awesome and performs awesome. 2 seater with some cargo capacity at the minimum.
