Hi everyone, I just purchased the UTV yesterday. drove it off trailer and about 1/2 mile no issues, temp gauge never moved.
later i  checked the oil level and filled the gas.  I let it warm up for a bit and the check engine light came on.
The owners manual does not mention the check engine light at all.
The closest repair shop is 1.5 hrs
Can anyone help me with reading / resetting the  code and see if it happens again?
Thanks in advance

That's unfortunate. It should display the code on your dash with the key on. It will say "P XXX" with x being the code number.

There is a service manual in the download section of this website, inside is a list of codes. I know there are also multipleuser manuals floating around for each of these models, some have better information than others. Let us know what you get for a code and we can help you further troubleshoot. I would bet that there's a loose wire that didn't get fully seated at the factory or air in the cooling system that needs to be bled or something else simple.

Unfortunately I'm on a very slow internet connection on my ship's satellite and can't watch the video at the moment.

The MIL light is controlled by the Delphi MT-05 EFI so it's strange that it's illuminated but not throwing a code. What I would do is check all the sensors connected to the EFI system remove them, and make sure they are plugged in all the way and no pins are bent. I've seen a few people report that a pin got bent on various plugs from the factory preventing proper connection of some sensors.

The sensors are all listed in the EFI section of the manual. Most of them are under the bed on top of the engine (follow the wiring harness).

Once that's done I would reset the ECU. To reset the ECU start the engine and run it up to redline in neutral (there's a Rev limitor don't worry). When it's revved up kill the engine with the key and let off the gas. Wait 15 seconds before restarting. That will reset the ECU back to factory and clear any codes.

Drive like normal and see if they reoccur from there.

Thank you for your help. After spending hour messing with it I gave up and exchanged it at Home Depot for another one.
this one runs much smoother :)

I've left the video in my drop box in case it helps anyone.

I have  a bulldog i bought from home depot in 2013.  In the last season it started refusing to shift from neutral to either forward or reverse.  I changed the trans axle fluid and made sure the cables were lubricated and free.  With a lot of coaxing, I can sometimes get it to shift.  once I start driving it, things improve until I let it set awhile.   Any suggestion on where to go from here?

Is there a code reader available for the Coleman UTV 400?  I tried using the HUD ECU Hacker software and cables/adapters but no luck OBD to delphi 6 pin and KKL VAG as well as ELM327.  Will not connect.  I was able to get it to connect randomly a couple of times, but haven't been able to since.  I was able to clear and read the codes briefly.  I'm aware of the Tiny Scan 301 but it doesn't seem to be readily available.  There's a few out there but they are expensive.

This post will explain how to hook up your PC to the ECU of a Hisun/Coleman/Etc UTV to be able to read error codes & engine parameters for troubleshooting purposes.
This is applicable to all small engines using the Delphi MT-05 ECU. This should cover all fuel injected Hisun models, as well as various other Chinese FI engines, as the Delphi MT-05 ECU seems to be the favored ECU solution.
Even though we get actual engine error codes to display on the dash, sometimes we have “pending codes” (not yet confirmed by the ECU) or other intermittent issues that are hard to diagnose, for example a poorly connected sensor that may give intermittent false readings, or a sensor that’s putting out bad date, but not bad enough for the ECU to realize.
The setup requires 2 cables, which are available for around $25 combined, a PC with a USB port, and some charityware software called “HUD ECU Hacker”. This gives the same functionality as the $300 dealer code scanner for a fraction of the price.
In searching I found info about HUD ECU Hacker, but I have yet to see info anywhere about how to hook it up to a Hisun, so I took the leap and bought some cables, and made it work. I will show a step by step of how to do so in post two.
I will be breaking this down into 2 posts:
Delphi ECU Info & Overview (This post) System setup & use Delphi ECU Info (Skip ahead to the next post if your eyes glaze over technical details)
The Delphi MT-05 ECU was developed to allow small engines to use fuel injection. A fuel injection system requires feedback from various sensors to operate efficiently. This feedback allows the adjustment of ignition timing, fuel injection volume, etc to efficiently and cleanly produce the most power possible from a given engine.
The MT-05 ECU has a number of sensors that are required for proper functioning including; Coolant temp, crankshaft position, intake temp, intake pressure, exhaust O2, throttle position, as well as some other optional sensors that are used on more complex vehicles.
From the sensors the ECU adjusts: Fuel injector timing/pulse, Idle air control valve, and ignition coil

The Delphi MT-05 puts out diagnostic data, however it is not ODB2 like a modern car, where is where it gets tricky reading it. There are three options, there is an old 16 bit piece of software Delphi has that is not able to run on a modern computer, there is the motorscanner tool for dealers ($300), or there is freeware HUD ECU Hacker with the proper cables.

I want to ditch my Kubota RTV-XG850 and its moronic twitchy throttle design flaw, get rid of the problematic engine and the 40 mph purposely throttled speed.
So far, I'm looking at the Honda Pioneer 1000 and the Polaris Ranger 1000, both of which have 1000-1500 lb payload bed capacity.
What other makes and models should I be looking at?

      Thanks for the help!
