My drain plug is leaking at a slow pace but enough to be leaving oil on floor. Talk to dealer and I replaced o-ring and checked mating surfaces and all good. Still leaking but at a slower pace. Now dealer is calling Hisun to see what’s up. I’m thinking the recess in the drain plug was cut to deep and when installing o-ring it just doesn’t seem to leave enough rubber above the flush/crush portion of sealing surface. Maybe a defective drain plug, that would be my guess. Wondering if anyone has had this issue with there’s. Dealer said this is a first for him. Waiting on reply from dealer.

Not sure on that one.

My UT400 has a copper crush washer on the bolt rather than an O-ring.

Can you try putting just the o-ring (no bolt) in the groove and see how much it sticks up past the face. IIRC orings are supposed to compress 30-40% for proper sealing. So it should stick 30%-40% of its thickness past the face. If it doesn't you could try a thicker o-ring with the same diameter.

They are sold in diameter as well as material thickness so you should be able to measure and order one. Keep in mind it is probably metric. Grainger is a good place to buy random weird size metric o-rings in my experience.

Edit: had one other random thought. I had a plug on my oil tanker that was a perpetual leader. It was gaskets internally. Anyway long story short after much frustration the issue was the hole was not tapped perpendicular with the deck it was going thru causing it to never seal tightly on both sides.

I wonder if your drain plug is tapped slightly crooked causing it to not seal on one side when the other side is tight?

I’m thinking I’m only getting a 20% crush. That’s why I’m thinking that the drain plug groove was machined to deep preventing the proper crush. Will see what the dealer says. I’d rather get a new drain plug instead of bastard sizing with thicker o-ring. If that’s even what it is. Thanks for jumping in on this.

Dealer is getting a new drain plug with matched Oring to go with it. I’m curious to see how deep the groove is on the new plug. Hopefully there will be a difference so I know I found the root cause, will see

Well got new drain plug and oring and looks identical to original and same crush distance. So what I did was Teflon taped threads being carful not to have any excess that would enter oil reservoir. Even though there is a strainer which would prevent that. Anyway, problem solved but would have liked to know why that was leaking in the first place. I still say it didn’t have enough crush to properly seal it the correct way as designed. I don’t like fixing symptoms, I’d rather fix root cause.

It's unlikely that the teflon tape did anything useful. Teflon tape doesnt seal, and almost every pipe dope sold dosent seal either (there are a few specialty exceptions).

The concept of teflon tape is that it allows the threads to slide more easily. It is only needed in a tapered fitting. In a tapered fitting, such as NPT the further you thread the fittings together, the tighter the seal. This is why you use teflon/dope on say piping in your house.

The drain plug bolt, in this case, is a straight thread so tightening further doesnt cause the threads to seal any tighter. This is why the o-ring is there in the first place. The o-ring is the only thing that really seals, as oil can seep right past the threads, it will seep past the teflon too.

Your 100% correct. It is used as a lubricant for threads. I wrapped the threads and we will see what happens. Most likely I will have to get a thicker o-ring if it starts leaking again. Just don’t understand why it is like this and nobody else is leaking seeing they use the same setup. I don’t get back to side x side to October, so I’ll see if it leaked just sitting there. My fingers are crossed.

thanks for your reply

Its very possible there was a slight imperfection causing the issue too.

Orings are very sensitive to leaking if nicked or if it just doesnt sit right. Or could be a slight imperfection in the old bolt that caused it to sit just a little off.

Fingers crossed and let us know how it looks in october.

As I tried to do a conversion with the Yamaha 660 motor, I realized the 660 was never fuel injected so it would not work for the fuel injected hisun motor swap. But the good thing is the hisun 750 motor is a clone of the 660 Yamaha but with the components for the fuel injection (cam/crank position sensor). So that left me with a new rebuilt Yamaha 660 and still a broke 750 hisun motor. I took apart 750 think the timing chain had broke from all that I've heard about these motors. The chain was not broke, but just off cam and crank gears! The chain tensioner was at fault!  I've ordered Yamaha 660 replacement parts, chain, two exhaust valves (which got bent when chain came off while motor was spinning) and seals. The piston has 2 little nicks where it had hit valves but no damage otherwise. The head is being redone at the machine shop and I'll be putting it back together in the next couple of weeks. Also I finally tracked down a Service Manual with all the info on the 550/750 Challenger.

I've had a Hisun Vector E1 for just a bit longer than is required for me to do some maintenance. While it's well-overdue, it only drives 1.5km a few times each week on a fairly decent gravel road (to the letterbox), and it has worked really well right from the get-go.
Looking at the manual it states that I need to use SAE80 API GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil for the Main gear Case, and SAE80 API GL-5 Hypoid Gear Oil for the Front gear Case - unfortunately i can't find either of those online here in Australia. Plenty of options that look close, but, as someone who has never driven any vehicle before, I want to use the right thing and it's a tad confusing.
My question: Since there are no oils that are bang on SAE80 (they all seem to cover a range) would Liqui Moly Hypoid GL4 Gear Oil 80W-90  & Motorex Hypoid GL-5 Gear Oil 80W90 - be ok to use? (Or any other suggestions of what I might be able to purchase online in Australia) And would I have to drain out any existing oil from both gear cases?
This is a whole new world for me and  being able to find exactly what is specified in the manual hasn't made this easy!

      Hi
I have a 2022 hisun sector eps 550. 30amp fuse is blown for eps. Checked the motor and it’s fine. Opened up the controller and found a bad diode. Dealer wanted 500$ for the controller. Just posting this in case it helps someone. I couldn’t read numbers from the old one so just took a guess and replaced it with a 100v 3amp diode.

2021 Hisun Axis 500 UTV (From Lowes)
      Will NOT START
MY apologies if this is to much info just wanted to give yal the most information possible for help.
I'm a so called diyer. An Electrician by trade 21yrs. I got my S×S from my last job. The contractor purchased this S×S for this specific job brand new, from Lowes. They used it for hauling materials, tools, & a little bit of anything you can think of on an Industrial type job site.
I remember getting on the SxS one time & pushed the gas petal all the way to the floor & SxS had very little power.
So anyway ,when the job finished up back mid July this year (7/2024) , I asked the contractor what they was going to do with it. I was told to take it. Otherwise it would go to the contractors yard (storage yard) & most likely rust away.
Took it home washed it , it had a heavy coat of dust on it & in it dust was every where. My helper & I had to push it on the trailer to get it home.  After washing it throughly I let it sit & dry out for a good day and half, maybe 2 days. Before trying to start it. NO START. Will turn over & try to start but thats it.
So here's what I've purchased & installed. New Air Filter, new spark plug, new air idle control valve (AICV), new throttle position sensor, new throttle body, new oxygen sensor, new digital dash speedometer/fuel gauge/clock.
Also drained the old oil & gas & replaced with new oil & 93oct. gas. I should probably mention that I've changed the AICV twice. The 1st time I changed the AICV I was able to get the SxS started & let idle for at least 10-15min. Drove out of the garage, with very little power,  turned it around & barely got it back in the garage. That was the one & only time I've been able to start the SxS. I've also cleaned the Throttle Body and & intake with TB cleaner.  So after that the AICV was  making weird noise so I pulled it out & tried cleaning it, pretty sure I messed it up. So I purchased a Throttle Body that came with new AICV & TPS. Still NO START.  I've checked the fuel pump & the fuel injector.  I took the injector off still hooked up to wiring & turned the key over, the injector sprayed a lot of gas out kinda the size of a volleyball. I've also checked the clearance gap on the intake & exhaust valve. But today 11/2/2024 I'm going recheck spark plug gap & the valve gaps. And alot of other checking. Would the driver side seat belt have anything to do with it not starting?? I know the driver side seat belt has to be in gauged for full throttle "going fast". Thing is the drv. side seat belt will latch but feels like might be messed up inside of it. Tired opening it up but to no avail.  I've never had a S×S or 4wheeler so I was really excited when I got the S×S,not so much anymore.  I work on & fix my own vehicles usually no problems.  But this SxS is kicking my ass.
So if possible & someone could help me with some ideas or tell me what Im doing wrong or did wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you for reading thus far.
